As with Mankind, is with life.
It is often said that philosophy, as a way of learning about life, has been eclipsed by science. Science and the scientific method certainly do have a hold on the discovery of our reality as we evolve. The scientific method provides a way for our species to learn through asking, experimenting and making mistakes. I do however disagree that philosophy has been completely eclipsed since the realm of philosophical discussion, debate and rhetoric remain the only outlet for free thinkers to express their ideas, opinions and wisdom to each other and to people willing to listen to them.
In understanding philosophy-as-life methods it is important for us all to strive to implement the ideals, however lofty, into our own day-to-day activities and social interactions. This can be very difficult in our ‘modern’ way of life. Many people perceive philosophy as out dated or simply inapplicable, a trick of the bored or an ancient mode of thought.
When interacting with the world around you, use the list below to help:
- Maintain a positive disposition and sweet temper as needed.
- Degrees of modesty tempered with assuredness of action and thought.
- Self regulated pro-activeness against negative thoughts.
- Avoid taking sides in circus contests eg: story topping, banal competitiveness.
- Genuine concern for family and friends.
- Patience for foolishness and the fools that perform it.
- Avoid flattery whenever possible but be modest when forced to accept it.
- Treat your life as you would want an empire cared for.
- Do not practice superstition, it is extremely unhealthy and a dead mans path.
- Practice loyalty where deserved and to those who practice it themselves.
- Take people for their merit only.
- Always moderate your own life and never attempt to moderate others. They must learn for themselves, even if it means pain and suffering.
- Do not fear or bemoan the future. Only by acting in the now can a future of dread be avoided.
- Be resolved to the aspects of life that can never be changed: birth, work and death. Embrace them and be free.
- We have only one life to live.
- Do not waste time in the speculation of others if it is not to your mutual benefit.
- Do not waste your thoughts hoping for the ill of others.
- Aim to stand on your own feet and avoid being propped up by others.
- Express confidence in your judgements and confidence in your faults.
- Never act without purpose, resolve and fortitude.
- Nothing outside your mind can truly disturb it unless you allow it.
- Embrace the constant change of the world and universe. The world is progressive change and life, only an opinion.
- Always use rational though and reason in your conclusions.

This list is by no means exhausted and is, itself, an evolving list. It’s very design is a responsive, not conclusive one.
